Growing up in a family that went to church only on very special occasions I learned that the Bible was only something that you listen to when you go to church. The Bible was old, used and most likely outdated in my opinion. During my confirmation I was suppose to read the gospel of John. I tried to read the first chapter but gave up before I was through with it.
At the age of 14 something brought a change to that attitude in my life. I got in contact with a person that explained to me by using the Bible that it is only through Jesus Christ that I can receive forgiveness of my sins and eternal life. It pierced my heart and brought me to Jesus. I became a born again Christian and started reading the Bible from a different perspective. I realized that the Bible is full of life and power. It is God speaking to me and showing me what he wants and desires for my life.
Matthew 24:35 says Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
The word of God is not outdated but it is for today. It is alive and has the power to bring people to faith in Jesus. Not only that it but it also has the power to set us free from different things that weight us down in life.
